Legislation is moving through the New Hampshire State Legislature, SB 468, which would assess stop-loss insurance to help fund the State’s small group market reinsurance pool. While SIIA supports efforts to create affordable options for those currently unable to purchase health coverage, we have stressed to the bill’s sponsors that assessments on stop-loss insurance will cause more harm than good to the very group they are trying to help. SIIA’s Government Relations staff has been in contact with each of the bill’s sponsors as well as relevant Legislators on the committees that this bill will go through. SIIA urges all of our New Hampshire members and all of our members associated with stop-loss who do business in New Hampshire to echo our message.
