Michigan Health Care Claims Act Litigation Update

March 16, 2012 – The Self-Insurance Institute of America, Inc. (SIIA) this week filed a legal brief in opposition to a motion by the state of Michigan that the association’s lawsuit challenging the state’s recently-enacted health care claims tax be dismissed. SIIA contends the law is preempted by the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA).
