What you need to know to stay safe

It has come to our attention that scammers are targeting our meeting attendees and exhibitors, attempting to sell attendee lists and solicit bookings at the Marriott Jacksonville Downtown Hotel. SIIA does not sell email lists to third parties.

Please be aware of any message coming from sources not affiliated with SIIA. Avoid interaction with them. Stay informed and protect your personal information by steering clear of these deceptive practices.

Phone Call Scam

If you receive a phone call that seems suspicious, please feel free to call SIIA directly at (800) 851-7789 to ensure you are interacting with a legitimate representative of the SIIA team or email registration@SIIA.org

Attendee List Email Scam

There are known scams afflicting trade shows and conferences where exhibitors are contacted by people fraudulently claiming to have and sell the show's attendee list. The Self-Insurance Institute of America ("SIIA") does not rent, share, or sell our attendee lists or provide emails or physical addresses to any third parties.

Please be aware, they often use SIIA's trademarked name and logo in their email and signature. These companies have no association with SIIA or SIIA's conferences. We apologize for any inconvenience that these scammers cause you.

If you receive emails that propose to sell SIIA conference attendee lists, do not engage with the sender and delete the message immediately.

Hotel Booking Scam

Our conference is also the target of hotel scams. Scammers may call, text, and/ or email attendees and exhibitors and claim they can secure a sleeping room for you at the Marriott Jacksonville Downtown. It is only safe to reserve a room through the SIIA hotel reservation block or by contacting the hotel directly.

If you engage or show interest, these scammers may send you documents to complete. Do not sign any document or provide your credit card details.

If ANYONE contacts you about booking housing or purchasing attendee/data lists, please be advised that they are poachers and should be ignored. Do not engage with the sender.

Housing Pirate Information

What is a "Housing Pirate?" - Commonly referred to as "housing pirates" or "housing bandits," these are companies that call, fax, or email attendees and exhibitors, claiming to offer good deals on hotel rooms or providing links to alleged room blocks or booking sites. They may falsely claim to be affiliated with SIIA or with the hotel.

Please do not provide anyone with your personal information, especially your credit card number. If you provide your credit card information to one of these companies, your card may be charged, and there is no guarantee you will have a room upon your arrival in Jacksonville. You should only book through the SIIA hotel reservation block.
